Maligayong Martes Pamilya!
It is absolutely crazy how fast these past few weeks have passed!!! Yikes! I
have 2 more weeks in the MTC and we get our flight plans this Friday!!! Ay Naku!!
But this has been such an amazing week, and I definitely feel like I am becoming more prepared to serve in the Philippines by my experiences here. First off, last Tuesday we had a MTC devotional and guess who came?! Elder Richard G Scott... And the moment he walked in the room the Spirit hit so strong, it was amazing :) He spoke on Communication with our Heavenly Father through prayer and it was phenominal. He reminded us that our Heavenly Father is an almighty God who has created many worlds and yet we have the ability to communicate with Him whenever we want to or need to, and more importantly, He wants to talk to us. -I know this is something you all know already, but thing of it in that way and it makes prayer with HF just so much more meaningful and how lucky we are!!! He also shared that when we dont want to pray that is when we most need to pray. That is something Ive heard many times as well, but this is something I still need to hear. He are just so blessed and loved to have a Heavenly Father who loves us so much. One thing that was really cool for us missionaries is that as He ended, he pronounced an Apotalic blessing on us and he blessed those of us learning a language that we will be able to learn and master it, that prayer will be an enriching blessing in our lives and this was my favorite part :) He spoke to us Sisters and said that we lit up the MTC and that though all missionaries have a choice to come serve, Sisters are not asked to go. But he blessed us that this experience will enrich our lives as wives, mothers and that we'll learn experiences that will be challenging but will allow us to raise children in righteousness that the world will need. As the meeting closed and the closing prayer was about to be said, he jumped up again!!! And he said "He will not abandon you... this will be an opportunity to discover things about yourself you never knew and talents you never knew you had." He also said that this experience will sustain you the rest of your life and HF will never give us trials we cannot handle- He matches our circumstances with our abilities to make us stronger. How cool is that!!! That was a spirittual feast for me right there!
This week is just full or amazing experiences and theres one in particular I'd like to share with you. We have something called TRC here and you kinda teach on the spot without any preparation and the purpose of this is to feel and teach from the Spirit and not a language activity. Our topic was prayer and my kasama and I were blown away with our last devotional on prayer so we shared what we learned from Elder Scott. Our first lesson was okay... we taught an RM and he corrected us a lot and laughed... even when we talked in English... hmmm.. Hindi importa! But our last was really good. We shared a message about the importance of prayer and how HF wants to communicate with him. We were about to close and it was my kasama ready to say the prayer and in Tagalog I started telling him I know life is hard but HF is mindful of you, and that God Loves you and He wants you to communicate with him since you are his son... I said something along those lines and he was crying. That has been one of my first experinces that the Spirit has truly spoke through me and it was something I know that he needed to hear. How amazing!!! I ve never felt so much love for a complete stranger before and its definitely affected the way I view people now. Everyone truly is a Child of God and He loves every single one of us. He loves YOU... YOU! I hope you all know that, and He wants to communicate with you so never ever forget to pray and talk to your HF.
We also taught our Progerssing Investigator, JunJun, who is now reading the Book of Mormon and we taught him the beginning of the Plano ng Kaligtasan and he loved it. Once I explained the Fall and how we are not condemned for Adam's trangression- he read the 2nd article of faith- he warmed up and I cant even tell you everything I said but it was so powerful... I dont remember a lot I said except I explained our purpose on Earth and we have the agency to chose to follow God or Satan and we can only return to live with HF through the Atonement and Jesus Christ and all of a sudden in Tagalog I asked him the "Binyag" challenge! (Baptism) and yeah haha! Well he said he'd pray about it! The spirit was teaching not me and it was just amazing. The cool part about all this is yeah I know he''s not a real investigator and he's our districts teacher, but we all felt the spirit and yes we got teary eyed, but it really does testify to me that even though Im the missionary, it's not My work. Its not about ME. Its Heavenly Fathers work and honestly there have been times where I wondered if im really qualified and YES!!! I am, I have a testimony and no missionary is perfect- no one is, but through the Spirit I can do Their work. I can be an instrument in Their hands.
To end, I LOVE seeing Elder Dover!!! I cant even tell you what a blessing it is for us to have each other here at the MTC! We dont really hang out and we do stick with our districts but during lunch, but today was Pday and we got to eat lunch together! how cool is it that I get to go talk to my Brother and ask him how he's doing even just remember good old family times at the MTC?! He also gave my Kasama a blessing and it was a good experince for us. I really love my Kasama and seriously I love my Kiwi! I got lucky and she helps me do better everyday! And thanks for all the letters and support, it is definitely a blessing for me. Dear Elder.com is a free way to write me btw!
I miss and love you all! Thanks for all your support! Hope to hear from yall soon!
Mahal Kita!
Sister Dover
