Bonjour!
So every thing is going crazy now. Seriously. They changed the french missionary schedule - meaning that class, meal, gym, etc times all switched and pday is now monday. It is crazy. Now I have to wake up at 6:00 if I want to eat breakfast before class...yeah. I thought I was tired before. I think I have permanent bags in my eyes. No joke. It is all worth it though. I still love it here.
Last week it was my birthday and goodness was it a good day!! A very good friend of mine (Clara) sent me a package EVERY DAY for 5 days straight. :) That was the best. Mom sent me a package of nerf guns and bouncy balls and a few other things I needed/wanted like pictures and a pillow (I'm sleeping much better now). My aunt and Clara sent me a cake! My district decorated my desk and I am so upset with myself that I didn't take a picture of it because it was pretty sweet. Then Jenessa snuck in my class room and decorated it again! Ha I'm sure I forgot so many things but needless to say it was an amazing day. I am pretty stoked to teach the elders in my district a fun nerf gun game we played at BYU called Cajun Justice!
Being Zone Leader is soooooo fun! I LOVE going from district to district and just talking to them for fun. I went to one district yesterday and they were saying who looked like what animal...apparently I'm an ox or a bull. What do you think? One elder was upset because they said he is a ferrett. It fits him well. Its a lot of fun getting to know the missionaries better than anyone else does. I seriously love it all. Especially before we go to bed I love hanging out with the elders. I used to go into their rooms and talk but now they come to me! I also play basketball with people in the zone while the rest play soccer outside together. (Je deteste le foot). So we get to welcome 14 new missionaries this week who are going to Tahiti. Elder Erickson and I get to meet 2 Aussies on Tuesday and basically be their best friends for the day until their new district shows up on Wednesday. We had a similar experience a few weeks ago when we were on our way home from SanFran! We were on the way home and a New Zealand Elder (apparently they are referred to as kiwis) was headed to salt lake with nowhere to stay so we brought him to the MTC and we were best friends the whole time he was here. He left last wednesday. I miss him. Kinda sad that people I know are leaving. Anziano Gneiting leaves tomorrow :( He is one of my best friends and he leaves for Italy in the morning! I'm going to miss him. He's been such a help to me here especially when I have a hard time.
Teaching an "investigator" is going great!! Elder Erickson and I are going to teach the plan of salvation tomorrow! Pretty wild. French is coming. I've started to be privately tutored by someone to help me improve speaking. Tomorrow I have an 30min appointment with him to just talk about life. I can't wait. He has helped me a lot in just 2 meetings and I can't wait for more. The biggest struggle is getting other missionaries to practice speaking french. I struggle with it all the time because it is just easier to say things in english. But I know how to say a lot of things in french. We've learned most of the tenses, present, passe compose, imparfait, future proche, future simple, passe simple, conditionel, subjunctif. I just need to be more disciplined and practice it. Practice is key.
So we get our travel plans this week!!! It is so dang close. I am freaking out right now. I can't wait to go and actually do things! It is so exciting!
Thank you for all your love and support!
Love,
Elder Alec Stephen Dover
