Kumusta Pamilya!
Magandang Gabi Po! Kumusta po kayo? This is intense, I have 6 days till I go to the Philippines!!! Ay Naku!!! We got our flight plans last Saturday and we have a layover in Hong Kong! Kawili- wili! Today my Kasama and I started packing so we wouldnt overwhelm ourselves and its just SO CRAZY!!!! This time next week I'll be in the Philippines!!! AH! But thats why I came right? Not for the MTC but to invite the people in the Philippines to come unto Christ.
So far this last week and a half have been wonderful and I have learned so much. I have more than 15 friends from BYU-Hawaii here and Ive met so many wonderful people, the MTC has been a blast!
This week we had the new General Young Womens President come and speak to us during Relief Society and that was AMAZING!!! She's really down to Earth and taught us about Jacob 5, which is the Allegory of the Olive Trees. I think those scriptures are beautiful as it describes our Saviors love for us and about the last days and missionary work. Starting at verse 70 or so it talks about the missionary effort happening now. Though we have tons of missionaries here at the MTC, we truly are small in number compared to the number of those who have the gospel. But in verse 72, it makes all the difference. "And the Lord of the vineyard labored also with them"- Our Savior is with our missionaries around the world as the Preach His gospel. It struck me He's going to be with me in the Philippines, no matter how hard it gets we're never alone. Even as member missionaries! You always have a HUGE part in the work!! Always remember He is with you! We are ALL preparing the world for the Second Coming of Jesus Christ our Redeemer and though we dont know when this is, we know that it is soon!
We also had the managing director of the Missionary department last Sunday and he talked to us about not giving up and a lot about Satan. It was very interesting. He reminded us to make no mistake that we are at WAR with Satan. "He hates Jesus Christ, he hates the Father and by association he hates YOU." He also said, "Satan and his minions have been watching you the past 18- 25 years of your life and he knows you, he and his minions are trying to destroy you. He knows your buttons and he pushes them." However, the key is Enduring to the End. We need to turn to our Heavenly Father always in prayer and the key is to NEVER let Satan win, even if he tells you arent good enough, you cant do this, or even that Heavenly Father doesnt love you, it isnt true, I can testify that I know that God loves each and everyone of us :) Always. "When Satan reminds you of your past, remind him of his future." I love that quote. But honestly, Brother Allen ended his talk with saying that we need to do our part to prepare the world for the second coming of Christ and its nigh and hand! All of us play a part :) How neat! If you bring one soul unto Christ, you save GENERATIONS! Beautiful!
As for Tagalog, we are progressing and I know about 20 verb tenses.... yeah try learning all that in 6 weeks! Its definitely a struggle but as far as teaching, we have been blessed so much with the Gift of Tongues and the Spirit! Thank goodness! we taught both our investigators this week and we followed up with JunJun and his answer about being baptized. He said he wasnt sure but he felt peace about it, so my Kasama and I explained he was feeling the Holy Ghost. But the nhe said he didnt know everything about the church and he wanted to be sure before, my Kasama bore testimony about not knowing everything and how she relies on faith and he was impressed by that. I then bore testimony that this was true and of the blessings of baptism and taking the steps to return to our Heavenly Father and he said yes!!! But the best part was I dont think my Kasama understood hahaha!!! She looked blank when I said I was excited for him and told him of the blessings he'd recieve and as we were about to close, she smiles and asks him to be baptized again haha!!!!!!!!!! You should have seen JunJun's face haha!!! I couldnt help it I laughed and he said in Tagalog, yes yes I already said so. Hahah man, she was so embarassed it was great! Of course I havent let her forget it yet and our teacher is JunJun so he statred laughing whenever he sees us. hahaha! But hey we have Binyag!!! Woohoo! We also taught our other investigator the end of the Plan of Salvation and her mom died and we explained how she can be with her family forever. As I was teaching her this concept, I brought up Binyag being the first step to partake of Gods plan and out of the blue I asked her how she felt and if she would be baptized, and she said yes! Woohoo!! In the past 2 days we succeeded and got binyag! Now we are going to teach the importance of coming unto Christ in our last lessons, Im excited!!! :) All in all its been a great week! My Kasama and I are pretty sad its our last week as Kasamas but here Philippines we come!!!! Cant wait!!!
I love you all and hope to hear from you! Stay Strong 1 Nephi 13:37- Endure to the End!
Mahal Kita,
Sister Jenessa Dover
